Austin Albert Mardon, PhD noted Antarctic explorer and native born
Albertan will be presented to the Alberta Legislature by Hon. Clint Dunford,
MLA at approximately 1:30PM today, December 1, 2005, in Edmonton from the
Legislative Gallery. In 1986 Dr Mardon
took the Alberta and Canadian flag’s furthest south on an Antarctic expedition
to the Antarctic Polar Plateau where he was a member of a team that found over
700 meteorites that included several meteorites that originated from the
Moon. He has suffered from schizophrenia
for the last 13 years and in spite of this disability has been able to overcome
this adversity and has made a substantial research and volunteer contribution
